Team of the Week - Week 2

The final whistle is in sight as we enter the penultimate week of Prostate United, but the performances haven’t slipped. Your enormous efforts have helped raise £100,000 in the last week alone.

Here are a selection of top runners, riders and ramblers as we enter the business end of the season…

This year is Steve Acquilina’s final Prostate United, and the Leicester City superfan looks set to go out with a bang with almost £2,000 raised so far. The Man v Fat crew from Thetford have been equally as impressive this week, putting 218 more kilometres into their walking shoes, while Prostate United stalwart and Sheffield United staffer Nathan Winder ticked over the £1,200 mark.

Long-time supporter and journalist Jeff Prestridge is leading the march for his club West Bromwich Albion with £762 raised, while Rotherham United kit man Russ Worley has swapped his Millers shirt for a Prostate United one this October, racking up 269km on the bike.

Behind every statline is a reason for taking part. For Levent Mehmet, that reason is deeply personal.

When Levent Mehmet was diagnosed with localised prostate cancer in January 2026, his thoughts immediately turned to his family. Rather than let the diagnosis define him, the lifelong Aston Villa fan has channelled his experience into something positive, embracing exercise, speaking openly about prostate cancer and throwing himself into Prostate United.

Through Prostate United, Lev has found a community of people fundraising, getting active and supporting one another. For him, it’s about much more than raising money.

“It’s about taking something negative that’s happened to me and converting it into something positive.”

Lev hopes sharing his story can help more men understand their risk and start conversations about prostate cancer. It’s a powerful reminder of what every mile completed, conversation started and pound raised through Prostate United can help achieve.

Well done to Lev & everyone else featured in the Team of the Week below. We've all got our own reasons for doing Prostate United but the motivation remains the same. Keep putting in those miles and bring in the donations this week and you could find yourself in the next one!
