Team of the Week - Week 2

Both Man City and Arsenal secured important wins, while Southampton claimed the bragging rights in the south coast derby in another entertaining weekend of football.

But off the pitch, our Prostate United Team of the Week has made an ever bigger impact, helping push fundraising to almost £600,000.

Among the starting XI this week is Newcastle United staffer Adam Stoddart, who has clocked up 175km on the bike so far, and Sheffield Wednesday fan Francis Hyde who has ran an impressive 89km. Top walker Sam Whybrow of Grassroots Magazine also claims his place in the TOTW, as does Danielle Nash of Tilbury FC.

For Danielle, every mile has a personal meaning.

The Tilbury FC supporter signed up for Prostate United after her dad, Daniel Nash, chairman of Tilbury FC, was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer earlier this year. What started as back pain led to tests that revealed the disease had spread to a lymph node, turning what seemed like a normal year into one her family will never forget.

Since then, Danielle has thrown herself into raising funds and awareness through football. From helping raise money on Non-League Day to taking on Prostate United itself, she's determined to do something positive for her dad and others affected by prostate cancer.

"If dad can face gruelling chemo, the least I can do is walk 5k every day in October."

The football community has rallied around the Nash family, with friends, volunteers and everyone at Tilbury FC helping support Danny through treatment. Danielle hopes their story will encourage more people to raise awareness and support men affected by prostate cancer.

Well done to Danielle & everyone else featured in the Team of the Week below. We've all got our own reasons for doing Prostate United but the motivation remains the same. Keep putting in those miles and bring in the donations this week and you could find yourself in the next one!
