My story

My Final Prostate United Challenge

This October, I’ll be taking on Prostate United for the fourth consecutive year, running 5km every single day throughout the month in support of Prostate Cancer UK.

This will also be my final Prostate United challenge.

Over the last three years, thanks to the incredible generosity of friends, family, colleagues, clients, Team Leicester City Football Club and so many others, we’ve raised more than £13,000 for this amazing cause. I never imagined we’d reach that figure, and I can’t thank everyone enough for making such a difference.

This year, I’d love to finish by taking our total beyond £20,000.

I’m fortunate that this challenge isn’t driven by a personal diagnosis, but by something that should matter to every one of us. Every 45 minutes, a man dies from prostate cancer in the UK. Behind that statistic is someone’s husband, dad, son, brother, friend or colleague.

If this challenge encourages just one man to understand his risk, have a conversation with his loved ones, or get checked earlier, then every mile will have been worthwhile.

Running 5km every day for 31 days is demanding, but it pales into insignificance compared with what so many men and their families face every single day. That’s why I’m lacing up my trainers once again.
